📍 Location: Quincy, MA
🔨 Scope: Full gut remodel — demo, framing, plumbing rough-in, tile, vanity, shower, fixtures
🎨 Finish: Marble-look large-format tile, dark slate floor, matte black fixtures, wood-tone vanity
There’s no shortcut to a bathroom remodel done right. You either do it all the way or you don’t do it. This Quincy job started with a full gut — walls stripped to the studs, old plaster and lath out, plumbing rough-in exposed — and finished with a bathroom that looks like it belongs in a high-end renovation magazine.
The Demo
Before anything goes in, everything comes out. The crew stripped this bathroom down to the framing — old lath-and-plaster walls, flooring, fixtures, all of it. That kind of demo isn’t just demolition, it’s preparation. You find out what’s actually in the walls, address the plumbing and framing, and build back on a clean foundation. That’s the only way to guarantee the finished product lasts.

The Build
The finished bathroom runs a marble-look large-format tile on the walls — floor to ceiling in the shower, full height at the vanity wall. The floor is a deep charcoal slate tile that anchors the whole room. A wood-tone floating vanity with an undermount sink and matte black faucet keeps the look modern without being cold. The frameless sliding glass shower enclosure with black barn-style hardware is the centerpiece — clean lines, easy to maintain, and a detail that elevates the entire space. A built-in blue cabinet nook adds a pop of color and functional storage without breaking the design.
The Result
The homeowner went from a gutted shell to a fully finished bathroom with high-end finishes, a custom shower, and details that hold up over time. Boston Smart Plastering managed the whole job — demo, rough work, tile, vanity, fixtures — one crew, one point of contact, done right. That’s how we work on every bathroom remodel, whether it’s Quincy or anywhere across Greater Boston.
