📍 Location: Haverhill, MA
🔨 Scope: New deck build — framing, Trex composite decking, stairs, white vinyl railing 🎨 Finish: Gray/brown Trex composite with white vinyl railing system
The Build
Boston Smart Plastering handled this one from the ground up. That means footings, pressure-treated framing, and a full joist structure before a single deck board went down. The surface is Trex composite — a gray/brown tone that weathers beautifully and never needs staining or sealing. White vinyl post sleeves and a white railing system keep the look clean against the home’s existing siding. Stairs were built in matching Trex treads to tie the whole package together.
Why Composite
Wood decks in Massachusetts need constant attention — sanding, staining, sealing, and eventually replacing boards that rot or splinter. Trex composite holds its color, resists moisture, and handles freeze-thaw cycles without cracking. The upfront cost is higher than pressure-treated wood. The lifetime cost isn’t.
The Result
The homeowner went from a back door that stepped out to nowhere to a finished deck with stairs, railing, and a wooded view. Built right, built to last — that’s the standard on every Boston Smart Plastering job, whether it’s decking in Haverhill or exterior work anywhere across Greater Boston.
