Boston Smart Plastering - Blueboard Installation
Our Detailed Process
First, we prepare the surface to ensure that the framing is properly installed, and the walls are plumb and square. The surface should be clean and free of moisture. The locations of electrical boxes and other openings are marked for the installation process.
1
Second, using a utility knife or drywall saw, the blueboard is cut to size, ensuring a snug fit around obstacles and openings. Electrical boxes and other cutouts are measured and marked on the blueboard, and a drywall router or saw is used to create clean, precise openings.
2
Thirdly, a continuous bead of construction adhesive is applied along the framing where the blueboard will be attached. We then use drywall screws to secure the blueboard to the existing framing, spaced evenly and slightly countersunk below the surface.
3
Lastly, mesh tape is applied over the seams between the blueboard sheets, ensuring proper centering and adhesion. A joint compound or setting-type compound is used to fill the tapered edges, seams, and screw holes, creating a smooth and seamless surface.
